Five-star offensive tackle Weston Davis of Beaumont (TX) United High flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to LSU Thursday night.

The 6-foot-6, 280 pounder had been committed to the Aggies since June.

“I see that LSU has the best offensive line in the SEC right now,” Davis said. “Coach Davis is a good coach and he developed the players that he has now.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“I love the coaching staff, especially coach Davis. Man, it’s family there for sure. They plan on using me like Emery (Jones) and Will (Campbell).”

The Lone Star State offensive tackle joins coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers’ top 12 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green, four-star safety Dashawn McBryde, and others.

Scouting Summary

On3’s Scouting and Rankings Team writes about him as a college recruit:

“Light-footed, flexible offensive tackle with one of the higher developmental upsides among offensive linemen in the 2024 cycle. Measured in at over to 6-foot-5, and north of 280 pounds in the spring prior to his senior year. Has plus length for the position with arms that have measured over 35-inches. Was a basketball-first athlete prior to taking up football in high school. Still relatively new to the game, but has shown considerable upside. Has high-end movement skills. Easily works to the second level as a run blocker and has burst and bounce in his movements. Shows budding physicality as a run blocker and works to finish blocks. Has the natural skill set to develop into a gifted pass protector. Will need time to gain strength and mass along with honing his technique. Should benefit from a redshirt year and time in a college strength program. Doubles as a contributor on Beaumont United’s nationally-ranked basketball team.”

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $118K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
