Flau'jae Johnson posts cryptic message regarding her future at LSU

LSU star Flau’jae Johnson has fans speculating on her future with the program after a post she made Saturday on X. Johnson posted three pictures of herself in her LSU uniform, but it was the caption that had many theorizing on what she meant.
“4 out,” she wrote alongside a crying emoji and a tiger emoji.
Johnson already missed the deadline to declare for the WNBA Draft as she decided to return to college for her senior season. A source told On3’s Nick Schultz shortly after that decision that a return to LSU was not guaranteed as Johnson could also enter the transfer portal. The women’s basketball portal closes in a little more than a week on April 23.
As a junior in 2023-24, Flau’jae Johnson put together the best year of her career to date. She averaged a career-high 18.6 points while adding 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists to help LSU to the Elite Eight despite missing the SEC Tournament due to a leg injury.
Johnson has been a starter at LSU for the past three seasons and won a national title with the team as a true freshman in the 2022-23 season, during which she also won the SEC Rookie of the Year award. She was a third team All-American this past year according to the Associated Press.
Should she decide to enter the transfer portal, she would likely be considered one of the top players in this class and command large NIL offers. She was already the top NIL earner in women’s basketball this past season with an On3 NIL Valuation of $1.5 million.

In addition to her talents on the basketball court, Johnson is also an accomplished rap artist. She signed an NIL deal with Roc Nation and released her first album last year, which included a collaboration with Lil Wayne. Johnson also has notable NIL deals with JBL Audio and Mondelēz.
Johnson’s decision to return for another season of college will also ensure more earnings for her when she does begin her WNBA career in 2026. The league is currently in the process of re-negotiating its collective bargaining agreement by the start of that season.
Lottery picks in 2025 will make $78,831 in their first season and $348,198 over the course of their four-year deal. However, hen the new CBA is in place, likely starting in the low six figures as a rookie.
Before then, though, she has one more year left in her at college to finish things off strong. Whether that be at LSU or somewhere else remains to be seen, as there is no official report of her entering the portal yet.
On3’s Nick Schultz contributed to this report.
