Former LSU Tigers defensive back Ray’Darious Jones is out of the transfer portal and has found a new home. And that new home isn’t far from LSU as Jones announced he is committing to Mike Leach’s Mississippi State program. Jones made the announcement from his social media account with this message attached, thanking the Tigers staff in the process.

“At this time, I want to thank everyone who has supported and who has been there for me through my college career. I want to thank the LSU staff who was a part of my journey while I attended the university,” said Jones. “Unfortunately things did not go as planned throughout my time at LSU although it was a great place to start my college experience. I feel as if my opportunity to grow in life is elsewhere. I have decided to enter the transfer portal to better my career and receive a new opportunity. A lot of thoughts and prayers have been put into this…
“At this time I will be transferring to the Mississippi State Bulldogs!”

Jones missed the entire 2022 season as a result of an academic suspension.

Prior to head coach Brian Kelly’s arrival in Baton Rouge, Jones had seen action across three seasons, but never made a start during his time in purple-and-gold.

As a sophomore in 2021, Jones appeared in nine games, including extended action against both Ole Miss and Alabama – logging four tackles in both games.
