Four-star cornerback Ondre Evans of Nashville (TN) CPA announced his commitment to LSU Thursday afternoon.

The 6-foot, 185 pounder chose the Tigers over NC State, Michigan, and Alabama.

Evans on why he chose LSU

“I can say what stood out at LSU were the coaches, the environment and the players,” Evans said. “Coach Steeples was a really good coach and he was good at teaching me some of the things that I need for one v ones and I applied it to the 7v7s.”

His relationship with coach Steeples played a big role in his decision + what it means to join program that produces NFL DBs

I can see the person that I’m closest with is Coach Steep! He is the DB coach. And I’m not sure of his game plan with me, but I know he wants to develop me into a NFL corner. It means a lot to me to be able to go play for a great program like that and I’m very excited to get down there and get to work.”

The Tennessee defensive back joins coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers’ top 10 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green, four-star safety Maurice Williams, and others.

Ondre Evans Scouting Summary

“Physically-gifted corner prospect with high-end athleticism and long speed,” On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power wrote. “Has unverified size, but is listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds. Looks to have good length for the position. Is one of the top sprinters in the state of Tennessee. Finished second in the state finals with a 10.55 second mark in the 100 meters. Also posted a 21.85 second time in the 200 meters. One of the faster corner prospects in the 2024 cycle. A two-way player on Friday nights. Lines up as an outside corner on defense. Shows the long speed to carry vertical routes downfield. Time spent at receiver helps with his ball skills when projecting to corner. Making the full-time move to corner and needs to continue honing his footwork in coverage. Physical and athletic traits are ahead of his skill as a player at this stage. Has moldable attributes that point to a high upside but will need time to further develop his skills.”

Evans ranks as the No. 250 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 25 cornerback and the No. 4 player in the state of Tennessee.

On3 ranks him higher than the industry, as he ranks as the No. 84 player nationally, the No. 12 cornerback and the top player in Tennessee.

He currently does not have an On3 NIL Valuation publicly listed. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
