The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder chose the Tigers over more than two dozens offers, including Alabama and Florida. The Crimson Tide and Gators were in the top schools list he announced in mid-November. But LSU and new coach Brian Kelly pushed hard for him late and sold him on the ability to stay close to home and be a star in Baton Rouge.
He is LSU’s 12th commit in the 2022 cycle, joining five-star offensive tackle Will Campbell, four-star quarterback Walker Howard, and three other LSU commits ranked among the top-400 nationally.
Quency Wiggins Scouting Summary
On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote the following on Wiggins as a prospect:
Sports one of the very best frames in the 2022 cycle at near 6-foot-6, 275-pounds with an otherworldly 85-inch wingspan. Started playing varsity football as a junior after primarily focusing on basketball. Looks strong without having years in the weight room under his belt. More of a high-upside, physical prospect than a great player at this time. Performed very well at college camps prior to his senior season, giving some top offensive linemen trouble in 1-on-1 drills. Raw in terms of seeing the game and reacting on the field at times. Will need to improve his first step off the snap. Despite that, his strength, length and agility at his size allows for playmaking. Long arms allow for disengagement from FBS level linemen. Has pursuit ability due to his quickness and stride. Displays physicality at times lacks consistency in that regard.
