Markway went in depth on his decision to commit to Louisiana State University.
Home Feel and Great Relationship with Staff
“LSU felt like home from the beginning,” Markway said. “I have family close and the chance to win a national championship, and become the best tight end in the country in the process is amazing. Having my former high school coach there in Coach Steeples is huge. He is a person that I trust with my life and know he’ll be there for me.”
“BK (Brian Kelly) is great,” Markway said. “I loved him at Notre Dame, but having him at LSU is way better in my opinion. He is a great guy! Coach Denbrock and Coach Polian are also super easy to talk to and I will love playing for them.”
Mac Markway joins wide receiver Omarion Miller in LSU’s 2023 class, which ranks top 10 in the SEC.
Scouting Summary
Mac Markway is advanced as a blocking tight end. We’ve seen him line up both in-line and at H-Back at DeSmet. Markway is very physical. His weight room strength transfers the field as a blocker. As a receiver, he’s most effective working on short to intermediate routes off of play action. We also see him show the physicality and toughness as a defensive lineman, which is encouraging.
