Brad Davis addresses LSU quarterback situation ahead of Texas Bowl
LSU interim head coach Brad Davis has a full plate to deal with and in the little bit of time that he will be running the program. One of the biggest things he will have to deal with is answering the complicated question of who will start for the Tigers in the Texas bowl.
LSU is dealing with a lot of turnover throughout its program. From the departure of national championship-winning head coach Ed Orgeron to newly hired head coach Brian Kelly. Plus, the departures of quarterbacks Myles Brennan and Max Johnson. With those two gone, the college football world wants to know just what will LSU do at quarterback against Kansas State.
“So, the quarterback situation obviously is something everybody wants to know about. We’re put we’ve put together a plan here that we feel really great about,” Davis said. “You know we have a multitude of quarterbacks taking reps during practice, Garrett Nussmeier being one of them. We’re working through some things right now to be able to have him play for us and still maintain his red shirt.
“And so that’s something obviously that’s in process you know and if that were denied for whatever reason, we have some contingencies in place. We will be able to move the football with execute our offense.”
LSU down another coach
The Baylor Bears are adding a LSU staffer to their coaching staff. Former LSU offensive analyst Collin D’Angelo is expected to join the Baylor staff and work with the Bears defense, according to Bruce Feldman of FOX.

D’Angelo first began as a student worker in 2015 in recruiting before getting hired in 2018 and he later ran the LSU personnel department. His Linkedin page notes that he was Assistant Director of Player Personnel on January 2019 to February 2021. He’s been a full-time offensive analyst with LSU from February 2021 to the present.
One thing is for certain for D’Angelo, he’s joining one of the hottest names in college football in being able to work for Baylor head coach Dave Aranda. It should be noted that before Baylor, Aranda spent four seasons as the associate head coach and defensive coordinator for LSU.
In just his second season in Waco, the Bears currently sit at 11-2 overall, including a 7-2 conference record in the Big 12. Aranda led Baylor to a Big 12 Championship victory over Oklahoma State, 21-16. It was the Bears’ third Big 12 title in school history and they did so in stunning fashion.
