After a gutsy first-half performance by Jayden Daniels despite injury, Garrett Nussmeier took the field in the second half in relief. Daniels started the game battling an ankle injury he suffered against Texas A&M last week, and continued to stay on the field despite increasing pain and discomfort. As the teams took the field in the second half, Daniels did not have his helmet with him and Nussmeier took over offensive duties.

“Jayden Daniels appears done for the day. Daniels is limping while walking on the sideline and no longer has his helmet. Saw him giving some hugs to players and coaches. Garrett Nussmeier is warming up,” explained On3’s Shea Dixon.

It didn’t take long for Nussmeier to make his impact felt, delivering a touchdown strike immediately on their first drive of the half, cutting the lead down to 35-17 to start the second half.
