SEC commissioner Greg Sankey trolled new LSU coach Brian Kelly over his dancing videos with recruits during his introduction at SEC media day.

Brian Kelly made noise when he decided to move from Notre Dame to LSU, joining Greg Sankey’s conference. Immediately, he faced questions about his cultural fit and effort in recruiting. This led to several notable gaffs, including using a fake accent and awkward videos of Kelly dancing with recruits.

Brian Kelly has danced in videos with multiple recruits. Danny Lewis Jr. ended up committing to Alabama, while Walker Howard is an LSU commit. Given the opportunity to do so, Greg Sankey decided to remind Kelly about his awkward dancing.

“First coach to introduce is the head coach of the LSU Tigers, Brian Kelly, who is a three-time National Coach of the Year, 2019, ’12 and ’18,” Greg Sankey said. “Led Notre Dame to the BCS championship game in 2012 and two CFP semifinals. I had to take dancing lessons yesterday. My younger daughter is getting married. My dancing lessons are not on video. Brian has had his dancing accident on video. When a five-star quarterback asks you to dance, you dance. When your younger daughter asks you to dance for a wedding, you take dancing lessons in my case.”

Brian Kelly did have a chance to respond to Greg Sankey in his press conference. Simply put, when a five-star recruit asks Kelly to dance, he’s going to dance moving forward. Oddly enough, it’s something that he never would have done if he was still at Notre Dame.

Kelly might be adjusting how he recruits for the SEC, but that doesn’t mean Greg Sankey and the rest of the world aren’t going to take the opportunity to make fun of him. Sankey and company are especially not going to miss an opportunity when you dance as awkwardly as Brian Kell does.
