Harold Perkins certainly issued some bulletin board material for Oklahoma and Sooner linebacker Danny Stutsman. When asked about OU’s star defender, Perkins was quick to admit he is not familiar with Stutsman’s game.

On Monday at SEC Media Days in Dallas, TX, one Oklahoma reporter, Abi Williams of OU Nightly, asked LSU linebacker Harold Perkins what he knew of another star SEC linebacker, Danny Stutsman. Except, Perkins didn’t know who Williams was talking about. Here was the full exchange between the two:

Abi Williams: “Being so dominant at that linebacker position, how much have you watched Oklahoma’s Danny Stutsman and do you see any similarities between yours and his game?”

Herold Perkins: “Can you repeat your question?”

Williams: “Oh sorry, Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma, do you see any similarities between your game and his game?”

Perkins: “Who is that?”

Williams: “Oklahoma’s linebacker, Danny Stutsman.”

Perkins: “To be honest, I ain’t really watching nobody else play. I only focus on myself, my teammates, and just focus on getting better.”

There you have it. Perkins willingly admits he has no clue who Williams is talking about when she brought up the name of a consensus First Team All-Big 12 performer from 2023, and likely one of the top linebackers in the SEC for 2024 in Danny Stutsman of Oklahoma.

Stutsman himself has already seen the audacious comment by the LSU defender, and retweeted a post on Twitter revealing the comment. Take a look at the screenshot captured by George Stoia of SoonerScoop:

Nick Saban excited to see ‘bigger’ Harold Perkins

At SEC Media Days, former Alabama coach Nick Saban took up for Brian Kelly and how Perkins was utilized in 2023, despite the defensive results as a whole.

“Well, I think the way they used him last year, nobody should criticize,” said Saban on the SEC Network set, explaining the thinking behind Kelly’s decision to use him as he did.

“He was a little undersized, so they kind of played him at outside backer, star. They blitzed him a lot, rushed him a lot, he caused a lot of problems,” Saban detailed of Perkins.

“Now they’re going to move him inside now that he’s gotten a little bigger — so he’s going to be involved in all plays, which is probably a good thing — and may be his natural position at the next level,” he added.
