The LSU Tigers got a critical update on Wednesday evening on their star linebackers Harold Perkins and Whit Weeks. According to Wilson Alexander, Brian Kelly told The Advocate that both players will miss spring ball but are currently on track for preseason practice.

Weeks had his season ended in the Texas Bowl, when he suffered a gruesome ankle injury. He had surgery to repair the broken fibula shortly after the season ended. Perkins, a preseason All-American, was ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 season after he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee. The injury happened during the fourth quarter of their 34-17 victory over UCLA in Week 4. Before going down with the injury, he had 17 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, while also tacking on a fumble recovery against South Carolina.

Whit Weeks and Perkins are one of the best linebacking duos in all of college football. Whit Weeks’ older brother West Weeks also plays for the Tigers. In 24 career games for the Tigers, West Weeks has tallied 174 career tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Their younger brother, Zach Weeks, is an incoming freshman for the 2025 cycle. He was tabbed as a four-star prospect and the No. 389 overall player in America, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Whit Weeks racked up monster numbers in 2024, tallying 120 tackles, with 61 solo tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception. He firmly established himself as not only one of the best linebackers in the SEC, but the nation. Weeks earned first team All-SEC honors from the Associated Press and the SEC coaches. He also won SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors twice (Ole Miss) and (Oklahoma) in the 2024-2025 season.

As a true freshman, Whit Weeks didn’t disappoint, leading all LSU freshmen with 49 tackles. He added 3.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sack, and four quarterback hurries. He logged 305 defensive snaps and another 182 on special teams, proving how vital of a player he’s been to the Tiger roster over the years.

As a true freshman, Perkins earned first team All-SEC honors in 2022. He followed that up with second team All-SEC honors in 2023. In 31 career games thus far, the gifted pass rusher has tallied 27.5 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. He currently ranks just outside of the Top 10 on the all-time tackles for loss list for the Tigers.
