When it comes to pinch hitting, it simply doesn’t get any better than the freon that LSU’s Hayden Travinsky found coursing through his veins on Sunday afternoon. In the top of the ninth inning, with the top-ranked Tigers trailing Ole Miss 6-4, Travinsky came in to pinch hit for Alex Milazzo. And boy, did he ever make it count. LSU was literally one strike away from losing, with runners on first and second. Travinsky then belted a pivotal three-run blast over the left field wall, to put LSU ahead 7-6. They would hold on in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Tigers prevailed, 7-6.

Watch below as Travinsky blasts the game-changing home run.

The home run was the first of the season for Travinsky.

LSU might have pulled out the victory, but that wasn’t before some anxious moments in the bottom of the ninth inning. Ole Miss slugger Ethan Lege nearly blasted a two-run walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth, but it was caught right at the warning track. The ball was literally about a foot or two away from going over the fence. Luckily, LSU managed to prevail and in doing so, stayed atop the SEC West standings.

With the win, the Tigers swept the Rebels in their series.

LSU got on the board early on Sunday, when slugger Gavin Dugas hit an RBI single up the middle to give them a 1-0 lead. Ole Miss tied the game up when they hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game, 1-1. The Rebels took a 2-1 lead in the second inning when DH Will Furniss hit an RBI single. The Tigers also got a solo home run from Cade Beloso, who belted his seventh home run of the year in the fifth inning. Ole Miss DH Judd Utermark gave his team a 6-4 edge in the 8th inning, after he belted a two-run home run.
