Brian Kelly provides availability, health update for Sevyn Banks, Major Burns
LSU is fresh off a rivalry win against Florida in the Swamp but now, Tiger Stadium will play host to another one. The Ole Miss Rebels will be in Baton Rouge with a 7-0 record as Brian Kelly looks to upset the No. 7 team in the country.
There are still some injuries the Tigers are going through, especially in the secondary. Both Sevyn Banks and Major Burns have missed games this season. Kelly gave an update on both of them, beginning with Burns.

During Wednesday’s SEC coaches teleconference, Kelly said Burns is looking good in practice. While it’s non-contact and with the practice squad, the timeline LSU has had from the get-go with Burns is still on track.
“Major Burns practiced in non-contact,” Kelly said. “He’s on the scout team, he looks really good, and now, it’s medically a matter of time from a healing perspective. Our hope from Day One was to get him back for Alabama. We seem to be on track for that. He looks really good being out there every day.”
Burns has been dealing with a neck injury but should be back on the field on Nov. 5 against Alabama. Always a big game for everyone in the LSU program, getting a top defensive back on the field will be massive for Kelly vs. the Crimson Tide.

Brian Kelly provides update on availability of Sevyn Banks
Banks suffered his injury against Auburn, needing to be stretchered off the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium. At the same time, the LSU defensive back was called for targeting and had it not been for the injury, still would have been ejected from the game.
“I would assume that’s the case in the protocol for that,” said Kelly. “I’ll check with the SEC to give you an affirmative of that but that would be my understanding.”
No exact timeline was provided for Banks and when he could possibly return. But whenever he does, Kelly does not expect him back on the field during the first half. Getting healthy will always take a priority for the former Ohio State cornerback.
For now, it sounds like neither Banks nor Burns will be back on Saturday for the Ole Miss game. As the season progresses, Kelly believes both can get back into the lineup and help LSU finish out the year on a strong note.
