No matter the results of LSU‘s last two games, they will be playing in the SEC Championship game against Georgia. Nobody thought head coach Brian Kelly would be in this spot at all, let alone early November. However, nothing has changed in Baton Rouge as Kelly wants to keep the momentum rolling.

Kelly was asked how he prevents his team from settling but did not seem worried in the slightest. He thinks everything has been “business as usual,” focusing on the “process” instilled into the program in Year One. Since UAB is next up on the schedule, UAB has been the discussion topic in the LSU facilities.

“That’s kind of a piece of who we are,” Kelly said. “We focus on a process more so than an outcome. It’s been a consistent way of how we do things on a day-to-day basis. We focus much more on the little things, our habits, how we think, what we do on a day-to-day basis, much more than outcomes, championships, things of that nature.

“It’s just kind of been business as usual for us this week. Our focus has strictly been on our preparation and preparing for UAB.”

Following UAB, a rivalry same, of sorts, will take place against Texas A&M. Then and only then will Kelly let his team think about facing off against Georgia in the SEC Championship. After all, getting wins are still needed to keep College Football Playoff dreams alive for LSU.

But it’s doubtful that Brian Kelly is thinking of it that way. He just wants to continue to play good football, especially after just escaping on the road a week ago. One final game to play in front of the home crowd at Tigers Stadium presents a fun opportunity before shipping off to College Station and then Atlanta.
