LSU head basketball coach Matt McMahon offered a status update on Jalen Reed on Wednesday evening. The Tigers issued a statement from the head coach on their Twitter page. He suffered a torn right ACL in their game last night and will miss the remainder of the 2024-2025 college basketball season.

“Jalen Reed suffered a torn (right) ACL in last night’s game and will miss the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. We are devastated for Jalen as he has worked extremely hard in preparation for his junior year. He is an absolute joy to coach and earned the role of captain from his teammates. We look forward to Jalen making a full recovery and continuing his successful basketball career,” McMahon said in his written statement the team posted on Twitter.

Look for forward Daimion Collins to step up in Reed’s place in the 2024-2025 lineup.

In eight games this season, Reed averaged 11.1 points and 6.5 rebounds, while dishing out 1.3 assists and blocking 1.0 shots per game. He was also connecting on 50% of his three-point attempts, an increase from 39.4% in the 2023-2024 season. In the 2023-2024 campaign, Reed averaged 7.9 points to go along with 4.1 rebounds per game. Reed tallied 11 games in double figures for his first two seasons with the Tigers.
