Jayden Daniels: LSU has the best QB room in the country
LSU was one of the only programs in the country that was able to send two quarterbacks to this summer’s Manning Passing Academy. That’s proof enough to Tiger QB Jayden Daniels that they have the best quarterback room in college football.
Daniels shared that belief with the media while in Thibodaux, Louisiana at the academy at Nicholls State University. He said that they’re even better as players because, as a room, they have a level of connection that he doesn’t think exists at other schools with more than one top-notch quarterback.
“We have the best quarterback room in the country,” stated Daniels. “I’d put us against anybody in the country.”
“For us, we’re tight,” Daniels said. “That’s just a blessing for us because, you know, most people don’t really get this in their room. Guys that just want to see each other be successful at the end of the day.”
The conversation with that room starts with Daniels at the moment. After transferring in from Arizona State, the former four-star helped lead LSU to the SEC Championship and national contention with statistics of nearly 3,800 total yards and 28 total touchdowns while also completing a career-high of 68.6% of his passes.

From there, Garrett Nussmeier comes into the equation as the other MPA invitee. The Top-15 QB from 2021 has nearly 150 pass attempts in college under his belt. Those have come over 11 appearances in two seasons in Baton Rouge.
However, Daniels says that connection also extends to freshman QB Rickie Collins, a Top-20 QB in 2023. He said that he has formed a brotherly bond with him as he tries to show Collins the ropes of day to day life as a college football player.
“Not just us but Rickie Collins? I treat him like my little brother,” said Daniels. “Just seeing him be able to grow day in and day out. Coming in as a true freshman. Trying to just learn how to live on his own, even though he’s from Baton Rouge but it’s different living on your own. Just how to maneuver and how to treat things professionally? (It’s) how tight we are.”
A few other quarterback rooms in the country may wish to have a word with Daniels after this proclamation. Even so, he’s just fine with that as he’s ready to line himself, Nussmeier, and Collins up with any other group heading into the fall.
