Jayden Daniels responds to social media posts from former Arizona State teammates following transfer portal entry
Former Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback Jayden Daniels is enthralled in a competition for the starting quarterback position at his new school LSU. As Daniels works to learn his new offense with the Tigers, he is still fielding questions about his exit from Arizona State. On Tuesday, that trend continued as he responded to questions on the video of his former Sun Devil teammates clearing out his locker on social media.
“I mean I came here, you know, for my future and my career. It’s a fresh start. You know what happened at Arizona State happened. Still got a lot of love for those guys up there. Still talk to them at the end of the day because it’s beyond football for me. So it’s going up there. I hope they do well this season. I’m never going to pray on their downfall you know. Love coach Herm (Edwards), love Marvin Lewis and those guys up there. But at the end of the day, they understood what I want to accomplish in my life ’cause it’s my football career. It’s just moving on to the next step, moving forward,” said Daniels.
Daniels appears to be past all the drama involving his previous school, focusing on the task at hand. The junior quarterback is behind schedule after his abrupt transfer to LSU earlier in March. Quarterbacks Myles Brennan and Garrett Nussmeier have been a part of the program last season. Both have been working diligently at learning the new offense since Brian Kelly took over as head coach.

Arizona State players use choice words while cleaning out former quarterback’s locker
When Daniels reportedly entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, his teammates quickly turned hostile, as seen in a video that surfaced on Twitter on Thursday. In the video, Arizona State players are clearing out Daniels’ locker with some choice words. (Warning: This video contains explicit language)
“(Daniels) sucks anyways,” one player is heard saying.
A native of San Bernardino, California, Daniels has been Arizona State’s starting quarterback for each of the past three seasons, first getting the nod in 2019, his true freshman season. That year, he threw for 2,943 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and just two interceptions, while holding a 60.7 percent completion rate; all the while, he rushed for 355 yards and three touchdowns. In doing so, he was named an honorable mention for Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year. This past season, Daniels helped lead Arizona State to a bowl game, throwing for 2,380 yards, 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on a 65.4 percent completion rate. His effectiveness on the ground only improved, as he ran for 710 yards and six touchdowns.
