LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, even if he doesn’t win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, at least will have rocked up to the ceremony in supreme style. Right down to the silver Rolex.

The Heisman ceremony has become something of a quasi-fashion show for the finalists invited, as many work with stylists to craft a memorable look for the evening. For Daniels, that meant a clean three-piece suit — no tie — in a light slate gray, with diamond-studded silver jewelry to accent the look.

And while the wearer makes the suit, Daniels’ sartorial choices are a great reminder that simple can be stylish, too.

Plus, there’s a cherry on top: Daniels’ suit jacket is lined with a tessellated image of him hitting the Heisman pose in a game.

And if the oddsmakers know anything, Daniels could be holding the trophy he was mimicking by the end of the evening.

He threw for 3,812 yards, rushed for 1,134 and had 50 total touchdowns — 40 passing and 10 rushing. That made him the first quarterback to pass for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 since Jalen Hurts did so.

Daniels also won the Davey O’Brien Award on Friday. Daniels became the first LSU quarterback to do so since Joe Burrow in 2019. Of course, Burrow also won the Heisman that season before going No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft.

Daniels put up big numbers in his first year at LSU, but took a big leap forward in Year 2. He knew what his goals were, and he did everything he could to make that jump.

“I always believed in myself. And everything you could do, you have to put your mind into it, you have to put in the work,” Daniels said after winning the O’Brien. “And for me, I was just going out here from Arizona State and then transitioning to LSU in the 2022 season and going in this past offseason, I wanted to elevate my game. I want to be the best version of me because I knew there was much more out there on the table. I just put in the work, the early mornings, the late nights.”

Daniels beat out Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix for that award, both of whom are Heisman finalists alongside the LSU quarterback. And while the O’Brien is a distinct honor, it’s a safe bet Daniels would like to take home the hardware on Saturday.
