LSU has landed a big time commitment out of the transfer portal. Former Arkansas player and McDonald’s All-American Jersey Wolfenbarger has committed to the Tigers, she announced on Instagram on Monday.

Wolfenbarger spent two seasons with the Razorbacks, before sitting out the 2023-24 season. She was ranked as a top-10 recruit and five-star prospect coming out of high school.

Jersey Wolfenbarger was the first McDonald’s All-American for Arkansas since 2016 when she signed with the Razorbacks. She won two state titles during her high school career, averaging 19.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 blocks per game as a senior.

The Arkansas native will be a redshirt junior as she arrives to LSU.

As a freshman for the Razorbacks in 2021-22, Wolfenbarger played in 30 games, making 23 starts. She averaged 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.9 blocks. She was named to the SEC All-Freshman team following the season.

In 2022-23, the 6-foot-5 versatile player appeared in 35 games, with three starts. She averaged 3.9 points and 3.3 rebounds.

After taking a year off, now she is hoping to play at an elite level for an LSU program that won last year’s national title and is currently in the Sweet 16.

LSU star Angel Reese sets third-longest NCAA Tournament double-double streak

LSU star Angel Reese has yet to announce her intentions for the 2024 WNBA Draft, but if she does turn pro, Jersey Wolfenbarger could help fill the lost production.

For now, Reese is still making plenty of plays as she tries to help her team to another national championship.

Reese ended Sunday’s second-round NCAA Tournament matchup with yet another double-double. She scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in LSU’s 83-56 win over Middle Tennessee State after finding themselves down at halftime.

But Reese didn’t just help the Tigers advance to the Sweet Sixteen for a second straight season, she also etched her name in the record books.

Sunday marked Reese’s 25th double-double of the season and her 14th straight dating back to January. But it was also her eighth straight double-double in the NCAA Tournament, which is the third-longest streak by a player in the last 25 years.

Reese had a dominant impact in LSU’s NCAA Tournament run last season, averaging 21.3 points and 15.1 rebounds per game in last year’s tournament as the Tigers went on to win the national championship. Taking home NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in the process.

Her recent accomplishment is just the latest in her storied career in The Bayou, setting the NCAA single-season record for double-doubles and the SEC single-season record in rebounds last season. Named the SEC Player of the Year this season and an All-American for the second straight year, averaging 18.7 points and 13.3 rebounds per game (ranking second in college basketball) in her senior season.
