LSU safety Joe Foucha is aware of how rowdy the crowd can get at Auburn home games. A transfer from Arkansas, Foucha has played at Jordan-Hare Stadium once in his career already and will now do so again in a different uniform.

As LSU gets ready for its first true road matchup of the season, Foucha discussed what the team is doing in practice to ensure they can still communicate with each other despite the noise.

“That’s what we was working on today,” he said. “Just communicating with a lot of noise. Being able to get hand signals and stuff like that. I feel like most of the guys have been in that environment before, so we kind of know how hostile it gets. So it’s just doing that extra communication.”

Saturday at Auburn will also be the season debut for Joe Foucha after he served a four-game academic suspension to start the year. Last year with the Razorbacks, Foucha finished with 72 tackles (7.5 for loss), 1.5 sacks, one interception, five passes defended and one forced fumble.

But while Foucha is new to LSU, he is still one of the key veteran presences on the roster with four years of college experience. He understands the importance of that role, and has been doing his best to ensure some of the younger players on the team are ready for the environment as well.

“Just giving guys a couple words of encouragement. Let ’em know it’s gonna be a hostile environment. You’ve just got to do your job, stay focused and treat it like a practice. I’ll just be like, ‘Our practices are harder than the game anyways, so when you go out there just stay focused and do your job.'”

Auburn and LSU are set to kick off at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday.
