4-star CB Ju'Juan Johnson commits to LSU Tigers
Lafayette (La.) Lafayette Christian Academy four-star cornerback Ju’Juan Johnson has announced his commitment to LSU after taking an unofficial visit to the Tigers on Monday. He chose LSU after backing off his pledge to Colorado on April 23.
Johnson is the No. 220 overall prospect and No. 22 cornerback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in Louisiana.
“They took time to meet with me one-on-one,” Johnson told On3’s Sam Spiegelman about his visit to Baton Rouge on Oct. 8. “I met with coach (Brian) Kelly and coach (Robert) Steeples with my family. It went really well. In each meeting, they really just shared how much of a priority I am. They just wanted to spend with my family and (me).”

“Just knowing they genuinely want me, sticks out today more than anything,” he added. “They really care and that’s what stands out the most.”
LSU was originally a finalist, along with Florida, before Johnson chose the Buffaloes. He chose to decommit from Colorado after visiting Boulder for the spring game.

“Everything was great with Colorado, but I just felt like I made my decision too soon and didn’t base it on things that really matter to me,” Johnson told Spiegelman on April 24. “Colorado is a great place. It was definitely more about my heart and a few other things that confirmed I made a decision too fast.”
“I know what I’m looking for now,” he added. “They have to provide me with a plan to achieve my degree and accountability to help keep me on track. Based off my skills, there’s a few way I’d like to contribute — at corner, in the return game, and still touch the ball on offense. And then don’t tell me one thing and then do another. Just be up-front with me from the beginning.”
Keeping Johnson home marks a massive win for Kelly and Co. The Tigers now have commitments from four of the top seven players in Louisiana in Johnson, Jackson (La.) East Feliciana four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green, Denham Springs (La.) four-star safety Dashawn McBryde and Destrehan (La.) four-star linebacker Kolaj Cobbins.
Following Johnson’s commitment, LSU’s 2024 recruiting class remains No. 11 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 6 in the SEC. The Tigers’ group is led by two top-100 prospects in Green and Bellaire (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star safety Maurice Williams.
