Kentucky transfer WR Barion Brown signs with LSU
Former Kentucky wide receiver Barion Brown has signed with LSU, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. Brown announced his plans to enter the transfer portal on Dec. 5.
Brown spent three seasons at Kentucky, where he amassed 37 appearances and 27 starts. Brown tallied 122 receptions for 1,528 yards and 11 touchdowns while with the Wildcats.
Brown’s production took a dip this season for Kentucky, as the team’s passing game struggled. Kentucky averaged just 184.8 passing yards per game, ranking No. 110 in the nation. Consequently, Brown reeled in a career-low 29 catches for 361 yards and three touchdowns.
Brown is more than a receiver. He’s also an elite kick returner. Known for his incredible speed, Brown fielded 50 kicks while at Kentucky, five of which he returned for touchdowns — the most in SEC history. He also returned 11 punts for the ‘Cats.
Brown ranks first in UK history in kickoff return average (29.3 yards per return). He also set the single-season school marks in return average (36 yards per return) and scores (three) in 2023.

Brown played high school football at Pearl-Cohn (TN), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 88 overall recruit and No. 14 wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Coming out of high school, Barion Brown chose Kentucky over Alabama, TCU and Ole Miss. The wide receiver is the sixth highest-ranked commit in Kentucky history.
He will be an immediate contributor to LSU’s receiving corps. Head coach Brian Kelly certainly knows how to feed his receivers. In 2023, LSU had the No. 1 offense in the nation. This season, LSU averaged 315.3 passing yards per game, the eighth-most in the country.
