Kim Mulkey ejected following heated exchange with officiating crew
LSU head women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey was ejected on Sunday evening, in the LSU vs. Northwestern State game. Mulkey was seen several feet out onto the floor, berating officials in the fourth quarter of the game.
There was an offensive foul called on Aneesha Morrow with 4:56 remaining in the contest, and Mulkey was not happy about it. She went ballistic and was eventually ejected, after she was issued two technical fouls by the officiating crew.
There was 4:56 remaining in the fourth quarter against Northwestern State, when LSU forward Aneesah Morrow was called for a charging foul in a drive to the bucket. Mulkey was furious about it and drew two technical fouls from referee Timothy Greene, according to Scott Rabalais of The Advocate.
Mulkey was held back by her players during the incident, including star Angel Reese. LSU ended up winning the game, 81-36 in blowout fashion. The Tigers outscored Northwestern State in all four quarters, making sure that Mulkey didn’t have to sweat out the final result.
NSU had 27 turnovers, and the Tigers dominated nearly every statistical category imaginable: rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and total turnovers.
Kim Mulkey was not stressing over the ejection
Following the game, Mulkey spoke with reporters about the ejection in her postgame press conference. She made no apologies and had no regrets about the incident, saying, “I’ve been tossed before. It was time.”
Angel Reese was her usually dominant self, tallying 25 points to go along with 14 rebounds and three steals. She connected on 10 of her 13 field goal attempts in just 27 minutes of work in the blowout. Aneesah Morrow also pumped in 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Tigers. LSU now sits at 11-1 on the 2023 campaign.

We’ll see if Mulkey can get her team playing at a high level before the NCAA Tournament, where the Tigers will look to win back-to-back national championships.
The Tigers’ only loss thus far came against the Colorado Buffaloes, who handled them 92-78. None of their other games this season have been very close, except they did have some problems with the Virginia Cavaliers. The Tigers managed to squeak by them, 76-73.
Against the McNeese Cowgirls, LSU delivered a historic blowout, winning 133-44. The Tigers not only set school records for points, but for margin of victory as well.
Up next for LSU, they’ll take on Coppin State, which is slated for Wednesday, Dec. 20th. It will be their last game before the Christmas break. That one will be played at 6:00 PM and the game will be televised on ESPN+.
