Kim Mulkey, Flau'Jae Johnson share hilarious in sync reaction to call during NCAA Tournament vs Florida State

Great players are typically on the same page as their coach. LSU head coach Kim Mulkey and star point guard Flau’Jae Johnson showcased exactly that during the Tigers’ second round matchup against Florida State in the NCAA Tournament.
During the first half, both Mulkey and Johnson reacted to the same call against the Tigers in the same way, at the same time. The simultaneous reaction was caught on instant replay, although Mulkey was a bit more animated than her player. Johnson would put her hands around Mulkey in an attempt to calm her head coach. Mulkey brushed her away.
It was one of many explosive moments from the first half between LSU and Florida State. The Seminoles were led by junior Ta’Niya Latson‘s 23 points during the first two quarters as she scored the first points on the afternoon for her squad.
For LSU, Johnson was held to just two points during the first half. Instead, the Tigers relied on the trio of Aneesah Morrow, Mikaylah Williams, and Sa’Myah Smith. All three scored in double figures, and totaled a combined 36 points in the first half. They were led by Morrow’s 14 points on 6 of 12 shooting, while Williams and Smith went a combined 9-9 from the floor.
LSU led Florida State 50-49 going into halftime, and a greater scoring effort from Johnson will be expected if the Tigers want to escape Baton Rouge with a victory in front of their home fans during the NCAA Tournament. On the season, Johnson is averaging 19.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

Last season, the Tigers fell in the Elite Eight one year after Mulkey and cpmpany captured the program’s first national championship. They’ve made the Sweet 16 in each of the last two seasons, and won’t want that streak to come to an abrupt end in upset-fashion.
For Florida State, they come into the matchup with a chip on its shoulder. As the underdogs, they’ve only lost eight games all season, five of which came against ACC competition. They defeated George Mason in the first round 94-59, and are continuing its fast-paced scoring effort against the host team on Monday.
Fans can watch what is expected to be an exciting finish to the Round of 32 matchup live on ESPN. The winner will play either 2-seed NC State or 7-seed Michigan State in Spokane in the next round.
