Brian Kelly announced that LSU wideout Kyle Parker is out for the season on Thursday night. Parker tore a tendon in his triceps. The news was relayed on Thursday evening by Reed Darcey of The Advocate. Kelly made the announcement on his radio show. Parker was previously listed as being injured, not out.

Parker finishes his redshirt freshman campaign with three catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. In his true freshman season in 2023, Parker appeared in four games but did not tally any stats.

Parker was also a track star in high school

Parker went to Lovejoy High School in Allen, Texas. As a senior there, he hauled in 72 catches for 1,091 yards and 13 touchdowns. Parker also had 251 return yards on punts and kickoffs, 172 rushing yards on offense, and 1,514 all-purpose yards with 19 total touchdowns.

As a junior in 2021, he hauled in 47 passes for 790 yards and 11 touchdowns. His team posted a 12-2 record in 2021, reaching the Texas 5A D-II regional finals. A standout track athlete like many other members of the LSU roster, Parker was clocked at 10.89 in the 100-meter dash and 23.04 in the 200-meters.

13th-ranked LSU currently sits at 4-1 overall and they’ll roll out the welcome mat as they prepare to face off against the 9th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels. It figures to be just one of the best matchups on a slate that is absolutely stacked with great games. The October 12th slate has been circled for quite some time for college football fans across the country. LSU’s lone loss came to Southern Cal at the beginning of the season. They lost that one 27-20, in an absolute classic of a game.

Ole Miss is coming into the game off of their only loss of the season, a 20-17 stunner to the Kentucky Wildcats. The Rebels have otherwise been remarkably impressive for much of the 2024 campaign. Outside of Kentucky, nobody has given them a challenge. So, this will be a fascinating matchup under the lights in Tiger Stadium–one of the most hostile environments in all of college football.
