Lil Wayne cracks Brian Kelly joke while celebrating LSU upset over Alabama
Find someone who enjoyed LSU‘s 32-31 win over Alabama more than Lil Wayne. Spoiler – you can’t.
The decorated Louisiana rapper had some choice words for the Alabama Crimson Tide after the win, and made sure to let his followers know exactly how he felt after the monumental upset. He also hoped LSU headman Brian Kelly, a New England native, would embrace his new Louisiana home as the Tigers’ adopted savior.
“Roll tide??????? Nahhhh roll one tf up for dem Tigers!!!!!!!! It’s up!!! We litty. Lidia!!!! LilWeezyana State University lil bih!!!!!!!! Hope Brian [Kelly] use his southern accent at the podium!!!” Lil Wayne Tweeted.
Wayne was all in on the game from the start. He kicked off LSU-Alabama festivities this week in Baton Rouge, performing a concert at the Raising Canes River Center Friday night. The New Orleans-native also attended Saturday’s game.

The game was decided in the first overtime. Alabama scored on its first possession, and LSU would reciprocate on its first offensive snap as quarterback Jayden Daniels followed his blocks for a 25-yard score. Kelly would elect to go for a two-point conversion rather than kick the PAT to send it to second overtime. The try was good thanks to a Daniels pass to true freshman Mason Taylor, and the LSU fanbase flooded the field in celebration.

“It just felt like the right time,” Kelly said directly after the win. “Our guys, they played so hard. I just love the way our guys competed and I didn’t want to keep going in overtime. Just felt like the right time to try to win the game.”
As for the incredibly gutsy play call, the key was putting the ball in Daniels’ hands. After the huge touchdown on the first play of the drive, Kelly trusted his quarterback to make the big play, and Daniels came through in the clutch to likely end the Crimson Tide’s hope of competing in the College Football Playoffs.
“We wanted to get 5 on the edge,” Kelly explained of the play. “Good things are going to happen. Made a great decision. The true freshman, who played so great today, Taylor. Made two big plays for us.”
LSU is on top of the college football world after the victory, and Lil Wayne – and thousands of Tigers fans – won’t forget last night for a very long time. With the AP Poll coming out in the coming hours, the hopes of a CFP berth for the Tigers is suddenly attainable.
