The LSU Tigers star gymnast Livvy Dunne recently made an appearance on SportsCenter to discuss the possibilities of bringing another national championship to LSU, as the gymnastics program is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation. However, that was not the only topic on tap for the Tigers’ star.

Dunne also fielded questions about her relationship with former LSU baseball pitcher Paul Skenes. The duo has been an item for quite some time now after starting their relationship while Skenes was still attending the prestigious university.

During the interview, Dunne shared her thoughts on how well they work together as a pair and her life as the partner of an MLB pitcher.

“He’s pretty level headed all the time — that’s what I love about him — and I think we’re a really good pair because of that. Because I have such a crazy lifestyle and things get thrown my way all the time. Sometimes, my emotions can sway and he’s very level, and I just think it’s a very good match,” said Dunne.

“He just left for spring training and it’s going great. He’s about to debut in a spring training game today. Really hoping I get to watch!”

Skenes displayed how cool and level-headed of an individual he was during LSU’s national championship run last season. In 2023, he pitched in 19 games with a 12-2 record, 1.69 ERA, 0.750 WHIP and 209 strikeouts in just 122.2 innings. His 209 strikeouts set the SEC record, breaking Ben McDonald‘s record of 202 set in 1989. After his dominant season with the Tigers, Skenes won the National Pitcher of the Year award and D1Baseball Player of the Year. Skenes also took home the National Pitcher of the Year Award, the SEC Pitcher of the Year, and the Dick Howser Trophy as the nation’s top player.

Dunne believes gymnastics national championship would mean ‘the world’ to LSU

Dunne has become one of the biggest figures in college athletics, in large part because of how she’s been able to capitalize on her NIL. Even with all that, being able to compete at LSU and potentially win a championship is still incredibly important to Dunne.

It’s been an excellent season for LSU gymnastics and the Tigers are in a good position to win a championship this season. With that in mind, Dunne shared that she believes a gymnastics national championship would be incredibly impactful at LSU.

“It would mean the world to this team and this university,” Livvy Dunne said on SportsCenter. “It’s an unprecedented area for LSU gym to win the national championship. I just think it would be so special for Tiger Nation.”

LSU is currently ranked second in the country for gymnastics, with a team national qualifying score (NQS) of 197.845 this season. The Tigers also have a team high score of 198.475. Those are the best numbers in the SEC and are only behind Oklahoma nationally.
