Willis (Texas) four-star quarterback DJ Lagway recently announced his top 10 schools. LSU made the list.

Lagway is in Baton Rouge today on an unofficial visit for the Tigers’ game against New Mexico. Saturday marks his fourth trip to LSU and first since June 24.

“It’s changed from Coach O to (head) coach (Brian Kelly) and I’ve built up a lot of relationships with all of the offensive guys,” Lagway told On3’s Sam Spiegelman. “They talk to me on a week-to-week basis and I can relate to coach Sloan about anything. He’s funny and I like having fun with those guys over there. I always have good convos with (quarterbacks) coach (Joe Sloan).”

The 6-foot-2.5, 225 pound prospect is the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 5 quarterback in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Texas.

On3 rates Lagway higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is the No. 18 overall prospect, No. 3 quarterback and No. 2 player in Texas.

Lagway isn’t the only high-profile 2024 quarterback at Tiger Stadium tonight. Carlsbad (Calif.) four-star quarterback Julian Sayin is also taking an unofficial visit to the Tigers.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Texas A&M has a commanding lead to land Lagway’s commitment at 66.4%. Florida has the next-best odds at 12.7%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Lagway has an On3 NIL Valuation of $128K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

DJ Lagway On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for DJ Lagway:

“Derek Lagway Jr. orchestrated an extraordinary season debut with more than 445 yards of total offense (343 yards, 6 TD passing and 102 yards, 1 TD rushing). Lagway completed 75 percent of his attempts — his first time playing in a new offensive scheme that was installed late in the spring. He’s immensely talented with a live arm and the ability to attack vertically, but Lagway impressed his poise and command of the offense, the ability to extend plays and navigate through his reads and execute exceptionally. He threaded the needle a few times, to a tee. He’s got the makings of an elite QB.”
