Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels might be gone, but expectations remain sky high in Baton Rouge. So much so that season tickets have now sold out.

LSU announced the sellout on Thursday afternoon, about halfway through fall camp. In total, 71,250 season tickets have been sold.

Single-game ticket sales and other ticket bundles will make up the remainder of the stadium capacity, which is listed at 102,321. Needless to say, Tiger Stadium will be packed and roaring for most games during the 2024 campaign. And for good reason.

Coach Brian Kelly has stabilized the program after some up-and-down years under former coach Ed Orgeron. The Tigers have won 10 games in each of the past two seasons, with both years including a bowl win. Undoubtedly that consistency played a part in season tickets selling out.

Of course, that won’t cut it in Baton Rouge for long. Tigers fans demand championships sooner or later.

There are plenty of reasons for optimism, though. New quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has earned consistent praise throughout fall camp and he will have some serious weapons to work with at the skill positions.

Receiver Kyren Lacy leads the charge there, having hauled in 30 passes for 558 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Running back Josh Williams is also back with some experience, logging 284 yards and five touchdowns rushing in 2023. Tight end Mason Taylor rounds things out after grabbing 36 catches for 348 yards and a touchdown.

Perhaps the biggest factor offensively, though, will be the offensive line. LSU is expected to have one of its best units in years, anchored by tackles Will Campbell and Emery Jones. If that unit lives up to its potential, life will be considerably easier on the new starting quarterback, giving those with season tickets something to be excited about.

Defensively, LSU also has some excellent pieces to build around.

It all starts with linebacker Harold Perkins in the middle of the defense. Perkins projects as one of the top players in the nation and is looking to rediscover the form that made him a menace as a true freshman in 2022.

LSU has also added a considerable amount via the transfer portal and now has a fairly veteran secondary to rely on, where that’s been a problem in the past.

However things shake out for the Tigers, one thing can now be assured: the sellout of season tickets means the place will be jumping. Then again, would you expect anything less from Death Valley?
