LSU back to No. 8 in 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking
LSU entered the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking earlier this week at No. 8 after the Tigers picked up their third commit.
They dropped to No. 9 in the intervening days, but after the commitment of Denton (Texas) Guyer four-star safety Ryan Yaites on Friday, LSU is back in the No. 8 spot.
Vivian (La.) North Caddo four-star receiver Omarion Miller, St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet four-star tight end Mac Markway and Loganville (Ga.) Grayson four-star safety Michael Daugherty round out the current four-person class of only four-star recruits.
The Tigers are one of three teams in the rankings that have only four-star recruits or above along with Alabama and USC. The Trojans have the No. 1 class in the country.
LSU is getting a big-time player in Ryan Yaites
Ryan Yaites said the Tigers checked the boxes he was looking for in a college program.
“LSU has always been ‘DBU’ and that energy and that part of the program, saying I’m a part of ‘DBU,’” Yaites told On3’s Sam Spiegelman. “Every time I put on those gloves, I’m a part of LSU. I’m a ‘DBU’ defensive back.”

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
The Tigers are getting a potential difference maker on defense in Yaites. He is the No. 181 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Denton (Texas) Guyer head coach Reed Heim told On3 that Yaites will play both cornerback and free safety for the team this year.
“He finished so well and he’s so strong,” Heim said. “He’s one of those guys that checks off a lot of boxes, one of those being who he is as a kid. He’s very easy to coach not only because of his abilities but who he is as a person. This is a unique and awesome place because of the kids you coach and Ryan is one of those kids. He always has the same smile on his face, always same great energy. He’s one of those kids you like to be around.”
Yaites currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $13.2k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
