LSU celebrates trip to the College World Series after beating Kentucky
LSU was one of the most impressive teams in the country during the course of the college baseball season. Now, after sweeping Kentucky in the Baton Rouge Super Regional, the Tigers have earned their right to prove they’re the best of the best in Omaha at the College World Series.
After a run in the top of the ninth that extended their lead, LSU closed out the Wildcats and appropriately dogpiled soon after on the grass in Alex Box Stadium.
After the opening game in the series was delayed, LSU got things started by man-handling UK on Friday night with a 14-0 shutout. Then, on Sunday evening, they closed things out with an 8-3 victory down in Baton Rouge.
Offensively, the top of the third and ninth innings created all the separation for the Tigers. In the third, LSU kept the bases full and capitalized at one point with a home run from Cade Beloso. Then, in the ninth, created some movement off some wild pitches before Dylan Crews eventually shut the door with a double that scored Josh Pearson and Paxton Kling.
With their 19th berth in the College World Series secured, the Tigers will await the winner of the Hattiesburg Regional to see who they’ll face first on Charles Schwab Field. At that point, LSU will start their run towards their seventh national title in program history.

Crews shares key to strong success in NCAA Tournament
LSU did what they needed to do in the Baton Rouge Regional as the nation’s No. 5 overall seed. They were able to do so because, frankly, Tiger OF Dylan Crews says he and his teammates want to win more on top of just having more fun.
Crews explained LSU’s sweeping start to the NCAA Tournament after they advanced to the Super Regionals this weekend. He said the Tiger’s will to win and compete is a major plus. That’s on top of the fact that, for him, they have a ton of fun out on the field.
“A deeper will to win. A deeper will to compete with my teammates,” Crews said. “Just go out there and try to have as much fun as I possibly can with these guys.”
“I don’t know – The more fun I have, I guess the better I play,” said Crews. “That’s what I try and do.”
