LSU cornerback Javien Toviano has turned himself in on criminal allegations Sunday afternoon. According to a report from the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Toviano was arrested on charges of video voyeurism.

The Tigers DB is accused of filming himself having sex with a woman who did not provide her consent for the videos to be taken. The woman told police that she discovered two videos on Toviano’s iPad that he recorded on a clock with a built-in camera that he placed near the bed. She added this was not the first time she had caught him recording during sex and that she had previously asked him to stop.

Toviano admitted to police in an interview to using a hidden camera to record the sexual activity surreptitiously. LSU released a statement saying that the cornerback has been suspended from all team activities.

“We will not have further comment out of respect for the legal process,” the statement read.

Toviano was preparing to enter his second season in Baton Rouge after appearing in 13 games with three starts as a true freshman. He was expected to compete for reps at cornerback this season with fall practice set to begin soon.

The 6-foot-1 defensive back was a top 100 prospect coming out of Martin High School in Arlington, Texas in 2023. He ranked as the No. 59 overall player and No. 10 player from the state of Texas in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Toviano recorded 33 tackles, one pass break up and a fumble recovery this past season. LSU ranked just 13th in the SEC in passing defense and was counting on his improvement to help it take the next step forward.

Other LSU players expected to play a role at cornerback this season include Ashton Stamps and PJ Woodland. Woodland, like Toviano this past season, could find reps right away as a true freshman for a Tigers secondary that needs bodies.

LSU also added Ohio State transfer cornerback Jyaire Brown, who should factor into the mix as well. Either way, it’s clear all those players may be asked to step up even more now if Toviano misses significant time as a result of his arrest.

For now, we’ll have to wait for the legal process to play itself out to determine if we see him on the field any time soon.
