LSU cornerback Javien Toviano has been reinstated to the university, Brian Kelly told reporters on Thursday, per Mikie Mahtook.

Toviano is not fully practicing at the moment, but he is back with the LSU team.

“Brian Kelly says Javien Toviano was reinstated by the university on Thursday. Says the team will work him back into football activities and he will compete as he works through his legal matters,” Mahtook posted on Twitter.

Javien Toviano was arrested for filming without consent during sex in July and was suspended from the team. He was charged with video voyeurism.

The Tigers DB is accused of filming himself having sex with a woman who did not provide her consent for the videos to be taken. The woman told police that she discovered two videos on Toviano’s iPad that he recorded on a clock with a built-in camera that he placed near the bed. She added this was not the first time she had caught him recording during sex and that she had previously asked him to stop.

Toviano admitted to police in an interview to using a hidden camera to record the sexual activity surreptitiously. LSU released a statement last month saying that the cornerback had been suspended from all team activities.

“We will not have further comment out of respect for the legal process,” the statement read.

However, he is now back with the team as the legal process continues on.

Javien Toviano is entering his second season in Baton Rouge. He appeared in 13 games with three starts as a true freshman.

The 6-foot-1 defensive back was a top 100 prospect coming out of Martin High School in Arlington, Texas in 2023. He ranked as the No. 59 overall player and No. 10 player from the state of Texas in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Toviano recorded 33 tackles, one pass break up and a fumble recovery this past season. LSU ranked just 13th in the SEC in passing defense.

Other LSU players expected to play a role at cornerback this season include Ashton Stamps and PJ Woodland. Woodland, like Toviano this past season, could find reps right away as a true freshman for a Tigers secondary that needs bodies.

LSU also added Ohio State transfer cornerback Jyaire Brown, who should factor into the mix as well.

The Tigers open the 2024 season on Sept. 1 against USC.
