LSU cornerback Sevyn Banks carted off field following scary collision on opening kickoff
On the opening kickoff of LSU vs. Auburn, Sevyn Banks suffered an injury while trying to make a tackle. He collided with a Tigers player and had to be carted off the field as a result.
Banks went to make a tackle and his head collided with Auburn kick returner, leaving him motionless after the hit. The officials also threw a flag for targeting and confirmed the penalty after a review, resulting in a 15-yard penalty and boos from the fans in the stands. Banks was responsive after the play and is now being taken to a hospital the next town over from Auburn, according to ESPN announcer Joe Tessitore on the broadcast.
“He was responsive, he was speaking to the medical staff that was attending to him and that he is going to be brought to East Alabama Medical Center,” Tessitore said. “It’s in Opelika, Alabama. That is the next town over from where we are at Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. He will be taken care of there.”
