LSU Football: Las Vegas releases early point spreads for 6 games on Tigers schedule
LSU football might have just won a national championship in 2019, but since then things have been all downhill for the Tigers. The program went on to go 11-12 over the next two seasons and fired coach Ed Orgeron midway through this past season.
Now there is a new sheriff in town, as coach Brian Kelly left the comfort of Notre Dame to take on a new challenge in Baton Rouge. As the season inches closer, Las Vegas has released early point spreads for six games in Kelly’s inaugural season. The Tigers are favored in just two games, and even then by a narrow margin.
Below is the full list of early point spreads for LSU games.
- Florida State at LSU (-3), Sept. 4
- LSU at Florida (-3), Oct. 15
- Ole Miss at LSU (-2.5), Oct. 22
- Alabama (-16) at LSU, Nov. 5
- LSU at Arkansas (-2.5), Nov. 12
- LSU at Texas A&M (-7.5), Nov. 26
More on the six matchups for LSU football
LSU finished this past football season 2-3 against the SEC teams listed, with the Tigers picking up wins against Florida and Texas A&M. Despite this, they find themselves the underdog in both of those matchups according to Vegas.
The Gators, like LSU, are entering their first season with a new head coach in 2022. Billy Napier comes to Gainesville with hopes of turning around the program after four years in Louisiana. Kelly certainly has the edge over Napier in experience, and this seems like a game where the Tigers could prove prognosticators wrong by coming out with a victory. As for Texas A&M, the Aggies will be a tougher out after signing the country’s No. 1 recruiting class this offseason.

It also comes as a bit of a surprise that LSU is favored against Ole Miss. Although the Rebels lose quarterback Matt Corral, they were still the SEC’s No. 1 offense in 2021. Expect coach Lane Kiffin to once again have his team among the league’s best in 2022.
Games against Alabama and Arkansas seem about right. No matter how good of a job Kelly does in his inaugural season, he will be hard-pressed to take out Nick Saban’s squad in Year 1. Florida State also seems like a winnable game in the nonconference as the Seminoles finished this past season with a 5-7 record.
