Keeping the top prospects from Louisiana at home is of the utmost importance for LSU and Brian Kelly. And the Tigers have largely done that during his short tenure.

Now, with a couple of the top recruits in the country hailing from inside the state, Kelly and Co. have made another statement by landing a commitment from Jackson (La.) East Feliciana four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green.

He also marks the sixth in-state commitment for the Tigers this cycle and gives them pledges from three of the top six players in the Boot in 2024.

The other three are still on the board, with the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) heavily favoring LSU for five-star Lafayette Acadiana defensive lineman Dominick McKinley, elite Marreo John Ehret cornerback Wardell Mack and stud linebacker Tylen Singleton out of Many.

The Tigers also move up to No. 9 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings with Green on board as Kelly and Co. look to poised to compete for another top-five class.

Green gives the Tigers another elite receiving threat

Green checks in as the No. 59 overall prospect player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In 12 games as a junior, Green racked up more than 850 receiving yards at the tight end spot, and on the hardwood, he was a walking double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds per contest. The Tigers have made him one of their top targets at any position this cycle and have put multiple coaches on his recruitment.

It’s home, it’s family, it’s where I reside at,” Green said in January. “They’ve been amazing visits and they treat me just like I’m family. Coach Denbrock, Coach (Joe) Sloan, Coach Jordan Arcement and BK (Brian Kelly) are all recruiting me.”

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder is the 14th commitment this cycle for Kelly and his staff, tied for the most of any program in the country. He also marks their sixth pledge in the past two months, joining four-star safety Dashawn McBryde, linebacker Kolaj Cobbins and linebacker Dahvon Keys as a couple of top targets to join up with the Tigers in recent weeks.

The 2024 cycle is also the second straight year in which the Tigers have added multiple tight end commitments. Four-star Tayvion Galloway pledged to the Tigers last July, and Kelly and Co. also took three tight ends in the 2023 class: four-stars Mac Markway and Ka’Morreun Pimpton and three-star Jackson McGohan.
