LSU guard Carlos Stewart enters NCAA transfer portal

LSU guard Carlos Stewart has entered the NCAA transfer portal. It will be the second transfer in as many seasons for Stewart, who spent the first two seasons of his college career at Santa Clara.
Stewart appeared in 13 games with nine starts this past season before suffering a knee injury and missing the final two months of the season. He averaged 4.7 points while shooting 32.8% from the floor.
As a sophomore at Santa Clara in 2022-23, Stewart averaged 15.2 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals while shooting 40.3% from 3-point range. He earned first team All-WCC honors as the Broncos finished 23-10 to make the NIT.
A Baton Rouge native, Stewart played at The Dunham School and was named the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year in 2021. He led his team to back-to-back state championships in his final two seasons, ending his high school career with more than 2,000 points scored.

Stewart has his best game at LSU on Dec. 21, when he scored 16 points on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc against Lamar. The Tigers went on to finish the season 17-16 and seventh in the SEC standings.
Carlos Stewart isn’t the first LSU player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. The Tigers also lost forward Mwani Wilkinson, who averaged 2.1 points across 27 games in 2023-24.
It hasn’t been all bad news for the Tigers when it comes to transfers, however. LSU added a player of its own in addition to the two it lost, bringing on Kansas State transfer guard Cam Carter, who put up 14.6 points per game this past year with the Wildcats.
