On Senior Day at LSU, the Tigers put together an extra special presentation for one of their most cherished members, safety Greg Brooks Jr.

Brooks was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer earlier this fall, keeping him off the field. So on Senior Day, the Tigers gathered some of his teammates and got them to speak to what Brooks has meant to them.

Using footage of those talks, the Tigers put up a video in Tiger Stadium on Saturday to show their appreciation for their teammate. You can check it out below.

Almost all of the comments about Brooks from his teammates focused on how hard a worker he is and how inspirational he’s been.

“I don’t think anybody understands the role that Greg plays to this team,” defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson said.

Greg Brooks, a former Arkansas transfer, tallied 66 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss, 1.0 sacks, a forced fumble, two interceptions and five pass breakups during the 2022 season.

He played in just two games before his diagnosis after he experienced repeated vertigo and went in for further testing.

Cancer or not, he’s been an inspiration.

“He kind of epitomizes what an LSU football player should be in my opinion,” punter Jay Bramblett said.

Added running back Josh Williams: “Greg means a lot to this team. Not only on the field but off the field.”

As LSU puts a wrap on its 2023 campaign, Greg Brooks will be honored on Senior Day. The Tigers don’t want to forget the lessons they’ve learned thanks to Brooks’ unfortunate circumstances.

“Once we found out about Greg, it all just made me realize like you’ve just got to live in the moment because your circumstances can change in an hour, circumstances can change in 10 minutes,” running back Noah Cain said.

Offensive lineman Charles Turner III might have summed it up best.

“Greg Brooks means a lot to this football team and this football program,” Turner said. “From the moment he got on campus he’s just one of the hardest-working dudes I’ve been around, one of the happiest dudes I’ve been around. It just gives us that extra motivation. We learned from him you can’t take anything for granted. You never know.”
