LSU kicker Cade York announces plans for 2022 season
LSU kicker Cade York has made a giant announcement about his intentions for the 2022 season. York released a statement on Twitter, where he announced that he is declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft, foregoing his remaining eligibility.
“I can’t find the words to express how grateful and blessed I am to have had the opportunity to be a part of LSU Football for the past three years,” York began. “Being able to play for LSU and be part of a National Championship season is something that has changed me forever and I can’t imagine what my life would be like without playing in Death Valley and for the state of Louisiana.
“My career at LSU has been a dream come true and I hope to continue my dream at the next level. With that being said, I will be foregoing my senior year to declare for the 2022 Draft. Baton Rouge will always hold a special place in my heart and I will always bleed purple and gold… FOREVER LSU!”
York leaves LSU as one of the likely top kickers in the NFL Draft
In his three years at LSU, York has been extremely productive. This season, he made 15 of his 18 field goal attempts, good for 83.3 percent. His longest make of the season was 56 yards. York also connected on all 39 extra point attempts this season.
York leaves LSU having made 54 of his 66 career field goal attempts, connecting on 81.8 percent of his kicks. He also connected on 164 of his 168 extra point attempts good for 97.6 percent. All four of his misses on extra points came as a freshman in 2019.

In 2019, York earned AP Second Team All-SEC honors, in addition to being named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Last year, he was named to the AP All-SEC Second Team, as well as earning Second Team All-American honors from AP.
In the beginning of the season, former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron heaped some serious praise on York.
“Money,” Orgeron said of York. “He’s 55, 56, 57, 58. That’s a weapon on our football team. And it gives us confidence that when we get inside the 40-yard line, we can score points.”
