LSU's Cade York is officially the cheesiest kicker with NIL deal
Junior LSU kicker Cade York has signed the “boldest” NIL deal yet.
York announced a partnership with Velveeta, an American cheese-tasting product, via Twitter on Wednesday.
“While I’m kickin’, you can be dippin’,” York said when explaining his new deal.
If fans co-sign the “queso contract,” when York attempts a field goal of 50 or more yards (up to 12 times), they can be entered to win a supply of Velveeta and Rotel peppers, the classic, timeless queso recipe that completes any gameday experience.
One lucky contestant will in the “Queso Grande” prize, which includes the ingredients to make queso for the entire season – 12 loafs of Velveeta, 12 cans of Rotel, a custom Queso Grande bowl, and a Queso Cade Jersey.
Hundreds of contestants can win a smaller quantity, enough to make a bowl for game day.
The specifics of York’s contract were not disclosed by Velveeta.
York’s field goal career long is 57 yards, made last year in the infamous shoe-throwing game against Florida, and he has already hit a 56-yard field goal in 2021. He is a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts and 13-for-13 on PAT attempts this year.
York was a member of the 2019 national championship team in Baton Rouge, when he went 21-for-27 kicking field goals and 89-for-93 on extra points.

Food-related NIL deals are popping up everywhere
Several athletes have already signed NIL partnerships related to food. Offensive lines at Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Arkansas have BBQ deals, Auburn’s Bo Nix, Clemson’s D.J. Uiagalelei and UNC’s Sam Howell have deals with Bojangles. Several other athletes and teams have inked partnerships with fast food chains in their regions.
This morning, Ohio State freshman and emerging phenom TreVeyon Henderson signed a deal with Arby’s.
Additionally, Notre Dame’s Kyren Williams, Washington State’s Max Borghi and Auburn’s Shaun Shivers are featured as well. Moreover, the four running backs went on to explain the sponsorship program together.
On the official Arby’s website, the Arby’s RBs program was detailed.
“Arby’s RBs is a sponsorship program where Arby’s will pay D1 college running backs just for saying, “Tonight, I’m getting Arby’s!” Yep, it’s that easy!
“The first 200 eligible running backs to successfully post on Instagram or Twitter following all the terms and conditions listed herein will be given $500 US Dollars each and Arby’s RBs-branded swag items. Limit one post per player.”
