LSU lands commitment from UT-Martin transfer guard Jordan Sears

UT-Martin guard Jordan Sears has committed to LSU out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on his Instagram account on Thursday afternoon.

Sears is coming off a monster season, scoring 21.6 points per game as a junior for the Skyhawks. He also averaged 4.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

He can absolutely fill up the stat sheet, and LSU will get an elite scorer for coach Matt McMahon to work with.

On top of being a quality all-around scorer, Sears is one of the top 3-point shooters in the country. He hit at a 43.2% clip as a junior in 2023-24. He shot 83.9% from the free-throw stripe.

LSU guard Carlos Stewart enters transfer portal

LSU guard Carlos Stewart has entered the NCAA transfer portal. It will be the second transfer in as many seasons for Stewart, who spent the first two seasons of his college career at Santa Clara.

Stewart appeared in 13 games with nine starts this past season before suffering a knee injury and missing the final two months of the season. He averaged 4.7 points while shooting 32.8% from the floor.

As a sophomore at Santa Clara in 2022-23, Stewart averaged 15.2 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals while shooting 40.3% from 3-point range. He earned first team All-WCC honors as the Broncos finished 23-10 to make the NIT.

A Baton Rouge native, Stewart played at The Dunham School and was named the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year in 2021. He led his team to back-to-back state championships in his final two seasons, ending his high school career with more than 2,000 points scored.

Stewart has his best game at LSU on Dec. 21, when he scored 16 points on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc against Lamar. The Tigers went on to finish the season 17-16 and seventh in the SEC standings.
