LSU and Texas A&M are underway in an SEC Tournament elimination game on Friday night, looking to secure a place in the tournament semifinals. And LSU left fielder Tre’ Morgan is doing everything he can to make it happen.

The junior has made a couple splendid catches in the outfield already.

On one, he robbed Texas A&M first baseman Jack Moss of a sure hit after making a tremendous recovery on a slightly bad read off the bat. Check it out below.

Morgan’s catch helped keep the bases clear for the Tigers, who went on to take a 2-1 lead in the SEC Tournament contest not long after.

LSU plated a run in the top of the fourth inning to retake the lead. Back-to-back doubles by second baseman Gavin Dugas and third baseman Brayden Jobert scored a run. A balk by Texas A&M pitcher Will Johnston with nobody out moved Jobert to third, but the Texas A&M pitcher was able to work his way out of the jam completely and strand the runner at third.

The Tigers would add another run in the top of the fifth inning at the SEC Tournament, taking advantage of another Johnston miscue.

Johnson issued a leadoff walk to Morgan, who battled the count full to earn it. Then Morgan was able to make it home on the next at-bat when catcher Hayden Travinski hit a double to left field. That made it 3-1 LSU.

It’s been an excellent start for the Tigers, who are doing a nice job of protecting starting pitcher Ty Floyd.

Floyd had given up just two hits through the first four innings, allowing one run. He had struck out five batters and walked just one.

The winner of the game between LSU and Texas A&M will advance to face Arkansas in the SEC Tournament semifinals on Saturday. The tournament will move out of the double-elimination format following Friday’s games and back to single-elimination the rest of the way until a champion is crowned.
