Monroe (La.) Neville four-star offensive tackle Zalance Heard has picked up an offer from his home-state school of LSU.

It is somewhat surprising Heard has not been offered by the Tigers until now, considering how highly-rated he is by the recruiting industry. He is the No. 102 overall recruit and No. 7 player from the state of Louisiana in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The Industry Comparison Tool shows Heard is highest ranked by On3 among the four recruiting media companies. The 2023 On300 ranking has Heard as the No. 15 overall recruit and No. 2 offensive tackle in the country.

The only offensive tackle ranked ahead of Heard in the 2023 On300 is Rock Island (Ill.) Alleman five-star offensive tackle Charles Jagusah.

Heard told On3 National Recruiting Anaylst Gerry Hamilton that the Tigers would immediately become a top school for him once they offer.

“LSU, whenever they offer me, will be one of my top ones,” Zalance Heard told Hamilton. “I like LSU. I like Coach (Brian) Kelly and Coach Brad Davis. Actually, I like Coach Davis a lot. He also knows what he’s talking about. He’s real.”

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $8k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

LSU has two commits in its 2023 class in Vivian (La.) North Caddo four-star running back Omarion Miller and St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet four-star wide receiver Mac Markway.
