LSU point guard Justice Hill available to play vs. Texas Tech
Great news for LSU hoops. According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, LSU head coach Matt McMahon has confirmed that starting point guard Justice Hill will rejoin the lineup today vs. Texas Tech after missing the last three games for personal reasons.
Here was the update from Rothstein, which he tweeted:
“LSU’s Justice Hill (personal) is available for today’s game against Texas Tech, per Matt McMahon. Averages 6.9 PPG. Has not played since 1/14.”
This news comes after McMahon had previously indicated that Hill would likely play this weekend. Here was what the LSU head coach said on Thursday regarding his veteran guard:
“Yes, I would expect Justice Hill will be in uniform Saturday. He will rejoin the team. He’ll practice today. What the role is going forward will be determined, but he will be back with the team and practice this afternoon.”
So no indication on whether Hill will be a starter or will play major minutes in his first game back, since we don’t know why he was out to begin with. However, McMahon made a point to note that his absence was not a punishment or anything of that nature.

“I just want to be clear with Justice Hill, it is not disciplinary situation by any means. He has stepped away from the program for the time being for personal reason,” McMahon said.
Before exiting the lineup, Justice Hill started 16 of 17 total games played as the Tiger point guard, leading the team in assists with 3.5 per game. He also averages 6.9 points and grabs two rebounds a game. The six-foot senior arrived at LSU like most of the roster, via the Transfer Portal. However, he came along with Matt McMahon from Murray State last offseason.
Maybe getting their point guard back will be the shot in the arm LSU needs for their Big 12 matchup after a poor start to SEC play.
