Garrett Nussmeier calls out EA Sports stadium rankings: 'There’s no place like Death Valley at night'
EA Sports College Football 25 recently released its rankings for the Toughest Places to Play. LSU made the top 10, coming in at No. 3. But according to Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, that isn’t high enough.
Nussmeier feels strongly that LSU’s Tiger Stadium should have been No. 1 on the list, ahead of both Texas A&M’s Kyle Field and Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Garrett Nussmeier spoke about the rankings on Friday at the Manning Passing Academy.
“Don’t even get me started,” Nussmeier said, according to The Bengal Tiger. “There’s no place like Death Valley at night, first off. Kyle Field is loud, I’ll give them that, but it’s not Death Valley.
“The Swamp is loud, but it’s not Death Valley. For us to be three… I don’t want to piss EA off, because I want my rating to be nice, so shoutout EA Sports for bringing the game back. I’m not mad, I’m just saying. If you’re updating the player ratings, maybe come to one more game and maybe you can update the stadium rankings. Maybe you’ll change your mind.”
Garrett Nussmeier is far from the only person who believes LSU at night is the toughest place to play in the country.
In fact, former South Carolina running back Mike Davis had high praise for the environment on Twitter.
“LSU at night was the loudest place I ever played. The ground was shaking on every 3rd down.” Mike Davis posted.

That’s pretty high praise for Tiger Stadium considering Davis played in several big SEC games, as well as at Clemson.
EA Sports had this to say about how it decided on its rankings: “EA Sports factored in historical stats such as home winning percentage, home game attendance, active home winning streaks, team prestige and more to compile the rankings.”
While Garrett Nussmeier might not have been thrilled about EA Sports College Football 25 Toughest Places to Play rankings, the video game is high on the LSU offense.
The Tigers lost starting quarterback and Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels off of last year’s team, as well as two of the top receivers in the country in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. Still, the LSU offense is No. 6, according to EA Sports.
Player rankings have yet to be released, but it sounds as if EA Sports is a believer in Garrett Nussmeier ahead of the 2024 season. The Tigers will open the year on Sept. 1 against USC.
