LSU receiver Aaron Anderson suffers hamstring injury during practice on Thursday
LSU wide receiver Aaron Anderson did not finish practice on Thursday afternoon, after suffering a hamstring injury, according to Brian Kelly. The Tigers’ head coach did not place a status on his availability, but will provide an update before Saturday’s game against the Ole Miss Rebels, according to Koki Riley of The Daily Advertiser.
As for Anderson, he got to make his LSU debut after joining via the NCAA transfer portal and SEC West rival, Alabama. His biggest impact actually came on special teams but in a negative impact. Anderson muffed a punt and gave the ball back to Florida State with good field position.
Ahead of his game against Grambling State, Kelly said he was going to keep Anderson out there as the punt returner. Moving on from him would have been easy, finding somebody else to field punts. But one mistake did not force the LSU head coach to make a change.
“Keep working with him,” Kelly said. “He’s a young player. We’re not kicking him out of the club. We’re gonna keep working with him.
“Then, yeah, there’s that natural progression of getting him back involved in more of the offense.”
On the offensive end, Anderson got involved by catching a pass from quarterback Jayden Daniels. He finished with one reception of seven yards.
Coming out of Edna Karr High School (New Orleans, Louisiana), Anderson was one of the most highly regarded prospects in the country. He was named the Times-Picayune All-Metro New Orleans Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. As a senior, he returned five kickoffs for touchdowns. As a receiver, he hauled in 74 catches for 926 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.

He finished his prolific high school career racking up more than 20 returns for touchdowns and over 6,000 total yards. Anderson was also selected to the Under Armour All-American Game.
According to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2022 cycle, he was rated as the No. 36 overall prospect in America and a four-star recruit.
Before transferring to LSU in December of 2022, he suited up in one game the fall for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He had to deal with a number of injuries during the 2022 campaign. The only action that Anderson saw on the field came in Week 11, against Austin Peay.
LSU and Ole Miss will face off on Saturday, Sept. 30th at 6:00 PM EST. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
