The LSU Tigers kick off the Brian Kelly era on Sunday in primetime versus the Florida State Seminoles. Heading into the weekend, the team released the hype video for Week 1, narrated by newly retired alum and Super Bowl champ Andrew Whitworth.

The caption for the first hype video of the season is: “The Path Is Not For Everyone.” It highlights the Tigers’ 2019 national championship, NFL draft picks, and former Tigers who’ve gone on to win Super Bowls in the NFL.

Andrew Whitworth narrates first hype game of the season

“The path,” Whitworth starts. “At some point, every champion reaches a crossroads. A day when they must choose which path to follow. The path that starts here leads to glory. It has been paved by legends. Those who were born in this place and those who were born into it. It requires attitude and grit … demands intelligence and laser focus … insists upon attention to detail. It compels excellence.

“The path is proven,” Whitworth continues. “It has transformed stars into icons, and icons into legends. But it’s more than just a pipeline, it’s a destination unto itself. It’s more than just football, it’s a cathedral for the faithful. It’s a place where prayers are answered and dreams come true. The path is not for everyone. It is for the few and the worthy. And it is for those who are destined for glory. It is for those who understand that what begins here, lasts forever. Follow the path and the rest takes care of itself.”

Andrew Whitworth is somewhat of an expert on the LSU “path.” He won the 2003 national championship with the Tigers while earning second-team All-SEC nominations in 2004 and 2005. Winning the 2021 Super Bowl title with the L.A. Rams, he became the oldest offensive lineman to do so at age 40.

LSU kicks off versus Mike Norvell’s squad at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in New Orleans. The Seminoles are already 1-0 on the year after notching a Week 0 game versus Duquesne.
