LSU reveals new gold uniforms for Week 13 matchup vs. Vanderbilt
LSU will debut a new gold uniform for its Week 13 night game against Vanderbilt on Saturday, the team revealed on Saturday.
The Tigers are known for wearing a traditional white jersey with gold helmets and pants, but have chosen to switch it up for the second-to-last home game of the season. LSU revealed what the jersey will look like in a post on social media.
It remains to be seen what helmet/pants combination will join this debuting uniform. They could go all gold or potentially opt for the reverse to what they traditionally use and wear white pants with white helmets.
Regardless, the Tigers are looking to get back to their winning ways against the Commodores on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. ET and will air live on the SEC Network.
The last time LSU wore gold was in 2016 when Les Miles was the head coach of the Tigers. These were called “Gridiron Gold” and featured white helmets with gold numbered decals and plain white pants. LSU defeated Mississippi State in that game 23-20.

2016’s game marked the first time LSU has worn gold jerseys since 1998. That game was against Florida in Gainesville. However, LSU wore gold in 1996 as well. Ironically, they were facing Vanderbilt in Tiger Stadium and eventually beat the Commodores 35-0.
They’ll shoot for a similar outcome on Saturday after losing its last three games to Texas A&M, Alabama and Florida, respectively. They had previously won six in a row before that.
The Tigers don’t often stray from tradition, but fans have been vocal in the past about wearing alternate uniforms from time to time. It appears as though the Tigers have listened, and LSU will hope its new threads can bring victory in Tiger Stadium.
After they wrap up against Vanderbilt, they’ll play one more game at home this season. They’ll round out the 2024 regular season against Oklahoma on Nov. 30 as they look to secure eight wins before the postseason.
