LSU notched another big in-state recruiting victory on Saturday night. Denham Springs (La.) four-star safety Dashawn McBryde announced his commitment to the Tigers, which elevated their 2024 recruiting class in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Head coach Brian Kelly and his staff now have the No. 12 class in the country. LSU, whose group also ranks No. 6 in the SEC, rose one spot from No. 13.

“Having LSU look at me since the fall really ingrained in my mind that they wanted me and my relationships with the coaching staff are amazing,” McBryde told On3’s Sam Spiegelman. “The visits to LSU really brought to life what all the hype was about. The many legends leaving and still returning to LSU are just amazing to see because you can really see how much LSU has done for them and how much they love it there.”

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive back is now the second-highest-ranked player pledged to the Tigers behind Bellaire (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star safety Maurice Williams. He is the No. 90 overall prospect and No. 7 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Meanwhile, McBryde is the No. 209 overall prospect and No. 18 safety in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also the No. 5 player in Louisiana.

LSU is finding success in its home state this cycle

LSU now has pledges from two of the top five players in Louisiana in McBryde and Destrehan (La.) four-star linebacker Kolaj Cobbins. Meanwhile, the Tigers have a 99.4% chance to land Jackson (La.) East Feliciana four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green — the second-best player in Louisiana who is committing on April 26 — according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

The RPM also gives LSU a commanding lead for five more of Louisiana’s top 10 players. They are Lafayette (La.) Acadiana five-star defensive lineman Dominick McKinley, Marrero (La.) John Ehret four-star cornerback Wardell Mack, Many (La.) four-star linebacker Tylen Singleton, Saint Francisville (La.) West Feliciana four-star safety Joel Rogers and New Orleans (La.) Summer Creek four-star linebacker Xavier Atkins, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star wide receiver Joseph Stone and Chillicothe (Ohio) four-star tight end Tayvion Galloway.
