LSU running back Trey Holly arrested on felony attempted second-degree murder charge
LSU running back Trey Holly has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting in north Louisiana and charged with three felony counts, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.
Nakos reports that according to Sheriff Dusty Gates of the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office in Farmerville, La., Holly was taken into custody and charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of a weapon.
Trey Holly turned himself in Thursday and was booked into jail. Bond was set at $512,000.
LSU did not directly confirm that Holly was involved, but said in a statement that it was “aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish.” Further, LSU noted the the student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities.
According to Nakos, two others have been arrested in connection with the shooting. One was 18 years old and the other was 17. The 18-year-old is facing attempted first-degree murder charges.
The shooting was at a Union Parish apartment complex. It left two people injured.
The shooting occurred in the evening hours on Friday, February 9. Gates told The Advocate that the investigation remains ongoing and there is potentially another shooter involved. He said to expect “additional arrests.”

The Advocate notes one woman was shot three times and left in critical condition, while a man was also shot once.
Holly is a freshman running back for the Tigers. He played in three games during his first season in Baton Rouge, tallying 11 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for five yards.
Prior to enrolling at LSU, Trey Holly was a highly sought-after prospect, a four-star player. He checked in as the No. 261 overall prospect in the nation according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
Trey Holly also checked in as the No. 17 running back in his class and the No. 14 overall player from the state of Louisiana, hailing from Farmerville (LA) Union Parish.
